Garden Travel Guide Netherlands and Belgium

Next to England, they are the garden country par excellence: The Netherlands. For almost 30 years I have travelled around got to know, appreciate and love the country and its people, their culture and their inspiration for gardening. Together with author Anja Birne a book has now (finally!) been created that has never existed before: A garden travel guide to the most beautiful gardens in the Netherlands - and also Belgium: With selected garden routes to follow, portraits of special garden personalities, travel tips, a comprehensive service section and popular recipes from the Dutch provinces - a book that every garden lover as well as explorers should own. Hardcover, 192 pages, 200 colour photos, 21,5 x 28,0 cm, 39,95 Euro (D)

On the way to become a modern classic: Country Gardens in its second edition

Because of the great success the publisher has added to the list: In 2018 my book "Landhaus-Gärten" went into its second edition. Having been chosen as one of the best garden books (see below), the book is slowly turning into a modern Country Garden classic. 216 pages, 223 colour photos, 19.0 x 24.0 cm, 25 Euro (D)

Women and their gardens - garden designers reveal their secrets

The design of the own garden is the great passion of many women. Mindfulness, sustainable thinking and a creative use of plants characterise the style of garden designers today - whether in modern city gardens, romantic cottage gardens or prairie gardens. 14 garden designers from five European countries (Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and England) portray text author Katrin Hofmeister in the book and reveal their personal green secrets in interviews. In addition, there is a short, informative excursion into the garden history of the countries from which the designers come. The publisher announces the book: "A magnificent overview of current garden design with a lot of practical know-how, brilliantly photographed by Elke Borkowski - and a wealth of exemplary examples as a source of inspiration for one's own garden". As with my book "Plant Treasures" (see below), the British "Garden-Media Guild" in London again voted me one of the best international garden book photographers in 2017. Hardcover, 160 pages, approx. 200 colour photos, 24 x 30 cm, 34,95 Euro (D)

Beautiful gardens 2020

For years I have been working together with the DuMont-Verlag in Cologne, which publishes the annual photo art calendar "Zu Gast in schönen Gärten" with my pictures. The publisher writes about the calendar: "Month after month you can visit the most beautiful gardens. The fantastic pictures by Elke Borkowski make it possible. The renowned garden photographer shows you the most beautiful views and the most secluded places. A feast for the eyes not only for passionate gardeners". Calendar size (WxH): 52 cm x 42.5 cm, 28 Euro (D)

Perfect plants for shady places in the garden

In many of the gardens I have visited, I have repeatedly focused my attention on shady garden areas. The result is this book, which shows that plantings with their own special charm can be created here that are in no way inferior to those in sunny locations in terms of beauty. The publishing house: "The authors offer well-founded and stimulating information in text and picture on all important aspects of successful shade planting and present the woody plants, climbing plants, ground cover plants, perennials, grasses and ferns suitable for Central Europe in a detailed part of the catalogue. And this is what the magazine Schöner Wohnen (9/16) writes about the book: "Helga Gropper and Elke Borkowski show in enchanting pictures what is green and blooming in the shade. Hardcover book with dust jacket, 160 pages, approx. 200 colour photos, 23 x 25 cm, 29,99 Euro (D)

Amazing grasses

The ornamental effect and fascinating variety of shapes of the most popular ornamental grasses are the subject of this book, which was published in the series of DVA plant monographs. "The photos are so beautiful that you simply have to look at them again and again. I keep discovering new grasses, thinking about how I can integrate them into our garden. This book is full of wonderful ideas that are easy to implement," a book critic said. Hardcover, 160 pages, 250 colour photos, 19,5 x 21,0 cm, 24,99 Euro (D)

Plant treasures: Collectors, their gardens and fascinating passion

Gardens and plants have always been fascinating to me - and of course the people behind. This book is about some of them, about collectors with their very personal, often touching or even curious stories - the enchanting story of text author Stefanie Syren. The book has won several awards. The British "Garden-Media Guild" in London chose me as one of the best international garden book photographers. The book was also awarded the German Garden Book Prize and voted one of the top 5 best garden books in Germany in 2015. Laminated paperback with dust jacket, 180 pages, 295 colour photos, 25.8 x 30.1 cm, 39,99 Euro (D)

"Stefanie Syren and Elke Borkowski show in their book the beauty of Country Gardens with many design examples and tips for the right choice of plants. The authors give concrete help on how the planning of the individual Country Garden is guaranteed to succeed. A book full of ideas and inspiration that brings your dream of a Country Garden within reach," so the publisher. The book was voted one of the top 5 best garden books of 2014 by the German Horticultural Society. Laminated paperback, 216 pages, 223 colour photos, 22.6 x 26.9 cm, 29.99 Euro (D)

Features in magazines

I have already visited and photographed many gardens. Every garden is unique, has a special style and charm. My numerous garden reports, small and big stories about people and their green realm tell about this. The pictures on the left show a selection of features: the garden of TV presenter, garden book author, publisher and garden blogger Claus Dalby, well known far beyond Denmark's borders; among them, as I also like to arrange and decorate themes, a round table with herbal arrangements. A selection of other published garden reports is following.
